Frequently Asked Questions

What causes corrosion in broadcast and media equipment?

Corrosive gases such as H₂S, SO₂, NOx, Cl₂ and other reactive contaminants can enter controlled spaces through ventilation and fresh-air systems. These contaminants can react with metals and electronic components, affecting PCBs, connectors, contacts and other sensitive equipment.

Which broadcast facilities can benefit from gas phase filtration?

Gas phase filtration can be considered for broadcast control rooms, transmission rooms, equipment rooms, studios, technical rooms and other spaces housing sensitive electronic systems, particularly where outdoor or surrounding air may contain corrosive gaseous contaminants.

Can conventional HVAC or particulate filters prevent equipment corrosion?

Not by themselves. Conventional particulate filters are designed primarily to remove particles, while gas phase filtration uses adsorbent or chemically treated media to remove gaseous molecular contaminants.

How can corrosive gases reach a broadcast equipment room?

Contaminated outdoor air can enter through fresh-air intakes, HVAC systems, building leakage, door openings and other air paths. Once inside, gaseous contaminants can circulate around sensitive electronic equipment.

Which Bry-Air system is suitable for larger broadcast or media control rooms?

The EcoScrub™ Deep Bed System is designed for larger controlled spaces and DCS/control-room applications, with a 250–10,000 CFM capacity range. Its deep granular media bed provides extended gas–media contact time for gaseous contaminant removal.

Where would a Thin Vertical Bed System fit in a broadcast facility?

A Thin Vertical Bed System can be considered where space is limited and protection is required for smaller controlled areas such as equipment, relay or technical rooms. The system is designed as a compact, modular gas-phase filtration configuration with a 500–2,000 CFM capacity range.

Can gas phase filtration be integrated with an existing broadcast HVAC system?

Yes. DRISORB™ honeycomb panels are designed for integration into existing AHU/HVAC systems. Their structured media format provides a way to address gaseous contaminants without necessarily replacing the complete air-handling system.
