Frequently Asked Questions

An Atmospheric Corrosivity Monitor is a monitoring system that provides a real-time, quantitative indication of the overall corrosion potential of an environment. It helps assess whether the surrounding atmosphere poses a risk to sensitive electronic equipment.

The ACM measures the overall corrosivity of the environment rather than measuring the concentration of one specific gas. It provides a direct indication of the atmosphere’s potential to cause corrosion.

The monitor can support assessment of atmospheric corrosion severity, while ISA-71.04 classification provides the framework for interpreting corrosion conditions. For formal classification, the measurement method and applicable assessment procedure should be followed as specified for the particular application.

The ACM measures the resulting overall corrosion potential, making it useful in environments where several contaminants may be present simultaneously. This is particularly relevant to industrial facilities where mixed-gas exposure can affect electronic equipment.

It can be used in environments where sensitive electronics are exposed to potentially corrosive atmospheres, including power plants, oil & gas facilities, chemical plants, sewage and wastewater treatment plants, pulp & paper mills, data centers, semiconductor facilities and other industrial control environments.

Yes. These are important applications because DCS, PLC, SCADA, protection relays and other control electronics can be vulnerable to corrosive gases entering through ventilation systems, door gaps and other pathways.
