Mondelez opts for Bry-Air Dehumidifiers for their Singapore R&D Center

Cadbury needs no introduction!

The name conjures up mouth-watering images in our minds.

Cadbury, the multinational confectionary company owned by Mondelez International, has built its R&D centre for gum and candy in Jurong, Singapore to foster growth and innovation.

Bry-Air has supplied its Dehumidifiers for their gum and candy storage area, sampling room and stability room.

Gum and Candy ingredients are sensitive to high humidity and high heat. High humidity makes the gum and candy sticky, soft and more prone to mould formation.

Bry-Air has supplied three units of Desiccant Dehumidifiers with built in chilled water-cooling coil to extract the excess moisture and maintain humidity levels of 30-45% RH at 21°C.

Bry-Air has also installed its Dehumidifiers in Mondelez at other locations including India, Thailand, Nigeria, South Africa, Botswana and Egypt.

Moistures Affects the Productivity of Pneumatic Conveying System

With the technological advancements, a wide range of industries are investing in the pneumatic conveying system. Pneumatic conveying system helps in transferring the powder, granules, chips, and pellets. It improves the efficiency of operations and conveyance which further result in the reduction of cost and manpower.

Often, after installing pneumatic conveyor certain productivity issues still persists because hygroscopic material absorbs moisture from conveying lines.

How moisture affects Pneumatic Conveyor:

  • Caking and lumping in powders
  • Build up inside the conveyor
  • Slower material transfer
  • Increase microbial growth
  • Affects product quality
  • Excessive downtime
  • Reduce productivity

Benefits of Dehumidification in Pneumatic Conveying:

  • No blockage of pneumatic conveyors
  • Increased productivity
  • Retain original quality and flavour
  •  Extend shelf life
  • Energy savings
  • Long service life
  • Simple operation and maintenance
  • Reduce operational cost

Similarly, inlet air dehumidification helps in increasing throughput in the spray drying process

Bry-Air Solution

Pre-drying the air used in Pnuematic Conveying

Pre-drying the air by installing a desiccant dehumidifier is one of the solutions to keep raw materials fast flowing and free from clumping as the incorporated desiccant rotor easily pull out the moisture. Dry air produced through the dehumidification process helps in controlling the humidity in the environment which results in dry and fresh food powders and other hygroscopic products. Inlet Air Dehumidification is considered to be the most efficient solution to overcome the problem of lumping and caking. It also prevents sticking of the product on packing machines, hoppers or other parts. Moreover, it ensures an easy, free flow of powder through the packing machine into containers.
