Humidity, if not controlled during packaging results in lower shelf life, growth of microorganism, chemical decomposition, Humidity/Moisture is a constant threat to product quality and its shelf life. All hygroscopic materials will absorb or desorb moisture from the atmosphere until they reach their equilibrium moisture content. The higher the relative humidity in the surrounding air, the higher will be the moisture regain. Specific hygroscopic powdery products demand higher control of many parameters to ensure high quality final product with longer shelf life. Humidity in the packaging areas can be devastating for the hygroscopic products and can cause moisture regain, organic corrosion, biochemical reactions, mould and fungus, activation of injurious activity of microorganisms and impairment of product accuracy and uniformity.
